Our Story

Originally born and bred in Tenby Pembrokeshire, I have two grown up children.

I was a qualified Dental Nurse for approximately 26 years. However in 2015 I decided it was time for me to take a leap of faith and do something for myself.

It was time I became my own boss. I’ve always had a massive passion for all animals especially dogs, we currently have 2 dogs, Fred who’s a working cocker, but we say he’s currently unemployed bless him, we also have a 9 month old Standard Schnauzer called Pandora she is a little star, we have 3 cats Tiggs, Pudding and Teddy the black cat who rules the house.

We have 2 horses Tink’s who’s retired and Hugo Boss who is quite a character and a challenge.

I had always dreamed of owning my own Dog Grooming Salon, but the thought was always pushed to the back of my mind for one reason or another, until one day I threw caution to the wind. To fund my new enterprise, I sold my pride possession, which was my horse Lorry. I underwent an intensive Dog Grooming course and once completed, I managed to secured a small premises and set about my new venture. I was very nervous and had many moments of "I can’t do this", "I’m not good enough" etc, however I persevered and have never looked back.

I have built up a wonderful client base very quickly who have become dear friends, both human and canine. I find it absoloutly amazing to have a puppy in for his introduction, watch them grow and become an important part of their life.

Four years ago, I secured my dream premises, a mere 50 yards from the beach In the heart of Saundersfoot, I put my heart sole into it to get it where it is today. I am very proud of my salon. It is decorated and equipped to a very high standard. Which creates a wonderful atmosphere for my owners and their precious woofs.

I have learnt many lessons over the years which has given me unique knowledge that I would love to pass onto my students. These are tips and tricks that I wasn’t given in my training. What are the best products? Shampoos, Conditioners, Clippers, Scissors, Dryers, Tables, Bath, Brushes/Combs, How to maintain equipment, Who are the best service providers? The list is endless, I wish i had been given this knowledge during my training.

I also carried my Dental experience into my new career, which I now offer as a professional teeth cleaning service for dogs which is very popular with amazing results.

When I was completing my Level 3 City & Guild’s exam my assessor after watching me for several hours suggested I take up teaching. I decided take her advice and spent 12 months studying and qualifying as a level 3 teacher and assessor.

This is where I am to date and now is the time, I’d love to share my wealth of knowledge and experience.

I look forward to welcoming you all.

Muddy Paws is a beautiful well equipped salon which creates a wonderful space to train as a dog groomer.
